Stacie Barker

My name is Stacie Barker and I love photography, design and solving problems. I have eclectic interests and though I love working in the digital world sometimes picking up a pencil or paintbrush, or working with my hands is just as refreshing and exciting.

I became interested in photography in college when my grandfather passed away and I inherited his old 35mm Minolta. I took some great photographs with that camera and the process of developing my own film and photographs was absolutely fascinating but a few years later I decided it was time to jump on the technological bandwagon and upgrade to a Digital SLR. I've had a lot of fun with photography; I love learning new tricks on capturing that perfect shot and I probably love working on the photographs in post-production even more. I'm partial to photojournalism style photography because capturing that perfect candid moment is so satisfying and rewarding to both me and my clients. Those photographs that capture the feelings and true essence of the moment are the ones we treasure for a lifetime.

I like clean, simple, easy to navigate websites. Sure Flash is cool and exciting but at the end of the day I feel when I get on the web to look up something I want an answer, and fast. Scavenger hunts are fun... but not on the internet.

My primary focus is in photography and web design however some random projects come up every now and then and I love a challenge. The weirdest/coolest one was designing a paint job for an airplane - yep I knew a guy at Southwest airlines... just kidding. The true story is one of my business contacts built a kit plane and when he was ready to paint it he contacted me for some ideas. I love arts and crafts and now with resources like Pinterest... well let's just say there are oodles of things I'm ready to dabble in when I find some spare time.
